Hi, all. This is Ginger, a GSD mix. This ol' gal belongs to my friend's father in law, who was placed on hospice in my friend's home last week. On hospice and no longer able to live at his own home, her FIL can no longer care for his beloved dog, Ginger. Unfortunately, Ginger cannot live at the daughter in law's home either as they already have 2 dogs.
My friend put out a desperate plea to all of her dog-loving pals, asking them to spread the word that Ginger needs a new home. Her FIL rescued Ginger off the streets as a puppy 8 years ago. They believe Ginger to be 8-9 years old. She has no special needs and is in good health. She is spayed and vaccinated.
In my friend's words, she said
"She is sweet to our little boy (7 yrs old) and is playful ,but was not raised around children. She is loyal and sweet." She is a medium sized girl, and is not as large as a typical female full-GSD.
If you know of anyone in So Cal who might be interested in Ginger, please put the word out. Feel free to cross-post. Dayna, the DIL, can be reached at
daynahardee@sbcglobal.net Ginger would make an excellent companion for an older owner since she has been the companion to an elderly man for most of her life. However, Dayna believes she would do well in any loving home. She has tried to contact no-kill shelters in the area and has been told they cannot take any additional dogs at this time.
