| Another Cute Unclaimed Stray
I just don't get it! This guy was picked up by AC a few days after Sheldon, the pug mix. Very friendly and absolutely friggin adorable! I think, though, that he has marked every single blade of grass in my yard .We're calling him Scrappy. ![]() ![]() |

Shannon--don't know where you get the energy for all you do--but if you have some left over please FEDX it to me. A couple of times when reading your new posts, I've recalled a story from my Grandmother about during the depression, trees on someones property would be marked in a manner to indicate that food was always available when needed for the homeless or hungry. Have you checked your tree lately? |

![]() I know an older lady that I'd love to see Scrappy placed with but I think she's too hesitant about taking on a dog due to having to recently go to using a walker. Too bad really because I think he'd be an amazing companion for her and heck I live across the street, I'd walk the little guy for her.

Had the little dude to the vet today for vaccs and heartworm test - he's healthy as a horse and pees just as much. On everything. I have a feeling that is one of the reasons he may have been "unclaimed". We walk into the vet and he pees 3 times in 5 minutes. So, while we wait, I hold him in my lap preventing peeing. We go into the exam room (no chairs) so I hold him on a short leash in the middle of the room so there are no walls he can get to to mark. After about 3 minutes of trying desperately to get to a wall, he squats and pees in the middle of the floor . He has a marking obsession. Well, a bellyband for a few weeks and his neuter should assist with that. I did get a very promising looking application on him the first day we put him on Petfinder from a senior citizen couple who recently lost their cairn terrier. They aren't very far away, either. If this doesn't pan out, I will most certainly let everyone know! So far he is great with other dogs, and seems like he couldn't care less about the kids. He gets a bit stiff on the food test, but no growling or snapping. He *should* be going to my "little dog foster home" within the next few days. She can give him much more one on one to combat the obsession .

How funny! In a not-so funny way, I guess. You should still call him Scrappy, but change the spelling - Scrappee!

Ok, so had one no-show for a meet and greet, and 2 subsequent applicants decide they do not want to deal with obsessive marking. I can't blame them! One more app to go. Having had him here for about a week now, I can say with certainty he is very dog friendly. He's not been tested with cats. Recommending a home with kids 8 and up. He hasn't snapped at anyone or acted aggressively, but his size and "typical terrier" attitude have me leaning toward older children. He knows no commands that I can see (in English anyway) and is perfectly happy to do his own thing most of the time. He stiffens on the food test but has not growled or snapped. Doesn't mind being picked up and handled. Hated getting shots. At this point with several dogs in my house not being "small dog safe" I am considering sending him to another rescue if one becomes available. I have 2 small dog foster homes, one who has Sheldon and another who took in a stray on her own. If you know of a rescue/foster who would be interested, let me know. I've put my feelers out to a few people I know, but have nothing concrete yet. |

Wow he is such a cutie. I should think people would be knocking down the doors to get their hands on him but then I think that for all dogs. It seems there are still more people out hunting for small dogs then large but the market seems to be getting flooded with small designer breeds and we are seeing more and more in rescues. Hopefully this guy finds a great home soon. |

Jo it's a shame about your neighbor not wanting a dog because she's using a walker. I met a very nice older lady @ the dog park w/her shi-tzu today and she used a walker. They just strolled around the little dog area. Her pup never went to far from her owner. It was very cute. I wish I had my camera to take pics.
