I stopped at one of our very small local shelters on Saturday. They are ALWAYS 90% pit bulls. Saturday was no different. Of the 20 or so runs, only 4 were not pitties or pittie mixes. I left without taking a dog (pitties tend to take a very long time to be adopted), but after coming home and talking with hubby, we are going to take this adult, dark blue girl, probably tomorrow. She is 2-4 years old and was surrendered after being used for breeding. She is reportedly good with other animals and has lived with children. She was VERY sweet and soft-eyed through the kennel, not barking, just gently licking my fingers.
Sorry for the TERRIBLE camera-phone picture - it doesn't have a flash and the kennel was rather dark. Will get you new pics as soon as she gets here. Her name at the shelter is Delilah, and her name when she was surrendered was Mama. Not sure what we will call her, but it will NOT be Mama.
