Dear Afghan Hound Society,

We know that many of you have been worried about the Afghans and Cavaliers
that were rescued yesterday. We would like to take this time to let you
know the truth of what happened and how the dogs are and where they all are.... See More

Yesterday at around 8:30 in the morning a message was left on Ryan's cell
phone from Cindy Chandler. The message said the one of the bitches had died
and another was sick and she thought they had been poisoned, but she went
on to say that she still had to work and wanted to know what to do with one
of the dogs ads.

Not too much longer after listing to the message Cindy called the house
phone and Lisa answered and spoke to her. She told her that she was going
to go over and pick up any dogs that they co-owned. Lisa left as soon as
the dogs were done being taken care of here at our house.

She banged on the door and rang the door bell with no answer. At this time
Lisa called Cindy's husband and he told Lisa to crawl through one of the
dog doors on the kennel. Once inside Lisa was over taken by the awful sight

and smell. She talked to Cindy and told her that we were taking all of her
dog. Lisa could only fit 6 in at a time, so she came home and dropped those

6 off and went back for more. It is around this time that Cindy notified
her that the other bitch had died. On the drive back to get more dogs she
was
called and told Lisa that she didn't need to take anymore of them, but
Lisa went on and collected more. Lisa took the first few with no resistance
but then she was told she didn't need to take anymore.

At that point Lisa had 10 of the 15 dogs, she returned home and informed
Ryan that Cindy was not going to give us the remaining dog. Ryan then text
Cindy and told her that he wanted the rest of the dogs or he would have her
sent to jail. He went to her house and banged on the house with no answer.
Ryan then called Cindy's husband and told him that she had 5 minutes to come
to the door or he would be calling the police to have her arrested. Her
husband told Ryan to go around back and bang on the outside wall.

At this point Cindy called Ryan's cell phone and told him to come to the
back door. Once inside Ryan had some words for Cindy (none nice) he went
through the whole house checked every closet, under every bed ETC to make
sure
that there weren't any other dogs. He then asked where the bodies of the
dead dogs were and was shown. He then went out and called Lisa to come back
with the van for the rest of the dogs. All of the dogs including the dead
ones were taken at this point.

The dead ones were sent with our vet for an autopsy. He also provided us
with food, asking that we keep them on a special diet until they can all be
evaluated.

The total amount of dogs that were taken from there house were 13 live
afghans 2 live cavaliers and 2 afghans that had passed on.

ALL of these dogs are with Lisa Bettis, Ashley Bettis, and Ryan Wolfe at
their home. Many people have helped us in many ways to take care of the
dogs. At this point 13 of the 15 dogs have been shaved down and had baths
etc.
They are all happy, wagging there tails, enjoying being outside and fed.

We have had many phone calls from many people. We thank everyone for there
thoughts and prayers. We are sorry we have not been able to take everyone's
phone calls but please know that we have been very busy.

All of the dogs will be going to the vet on Saturday. We of course would
love to have them in there already but it has taken so much time to get
these dogs shaved down and taken care of. None of them have been shaved in
less then 5 hours, some taking up to 10 hours. Every one of these dogs
weighs only between 20 and 35 pounds. They are all eating and drinking
water which is a good sign.

All of the dogs will remain here with us until they are well enough to be
placed in foster homes or permanent homes.

It should be noted to everyone that Cindy has not called anyone to ask how
the dogs are. Please remember she is not the victim here, yes she is sick,
but we believe that no one should feel sorry for her. She has no remorse and
has not offered assistance of any kind or anything else. She has told
many people that she is excited about her new life outside of the dog
world. Again, she does not care about the dogs.
At this time Lisa will be taking time off of the dog shows to father take
care of these animals. There health is her main concern right now and she is
doing everything within her power to make sure that they will have a
successful recovery. Ryan will continue to service our clients and Lisa will
return to dog shows as soon as all the rescue dogs are taken care of and
extra help has been hired to help maintain the rescued dogs. Their care is
our main concern right now.
We thank everyone for there concerns and will try to keep everyone posted
on how the dogs are. Please feel free to pass this email on to any other

Those poor Afghans! What is the background on this? Was she a breeder or just somebody with a lot of them that did not care for them?

All I can say is OMG!!! It took many many months for them to get into that condition-poor dogs

OMG!!! I don't even know what to say without some $5 words involved! Is anything going to happen this woman are will she just got off for treating these poor dogs this way? Is anyone going to call the police on her?

I just don't understand how people can be so awful and cruel.

The Cavs were being fed and not the Affies...how the f does THAT work? I am trying SO hard NOT to be too harsh on this woman, but many people in the breed knew and TRUSTED her for years!! She has been in the breed a LONG time. I am holding back ONLY because I understand that mental illness works in mysterious ways...and it HAD to be something that snapped...it HAD to be. That woman's cheese slid clean off her cracker...

Well I hope Karma catches up with this woman and stabs her.

For those who don't know - I checked out the whole story - this woman is a renowned breeder and AKC judge.

This woman was a respected breeder AND a judge? Holy shit! There was mention of a husband. Why in the world, if she became mentally ill, didn't he step up and either care for those dogs or have them removed from her care? How can you just stand by and let dogs die like that?
