| URGENT! Two Pyr's in Texas need out now!
I have posted to a bunch of Pyr rescues and other rescues I know on facebook and I know this has posted all over by others too. But lots of the rescues are beyond full. Here is all the (long) info posted. URGENT at GASSING FACILITY!!!!! - no hold time - Two GREAT PYRENEES ID#A139257 and ID#A139166 Both are unaltered males Garland Animal Shelter (known gassing facility) aka Abe J. Tuggle Animal Shelter and Adoption Center 600 Tower Street Garland, TX 75040-6718 Phone Number 972-205-3570 option #2 Fax Number 972-205-3433 AN ID NUMBER FOR IDENTIFICATION IS CRITICAL! This shelter will only let 501 rescues pull and WILL NOT HOLD an animal. ►If you don't have an animal ID, they will act like they don't know what dog you are talking about.◄ This shelter doesn't respond to phone calls or e-mails so the only way is to fax. It must be a legitimate fax with the rescue information and at most, the shelter only holds them till the end of that day. Citizens with questions or concerns about Shelter operations can contact: Jason Chessher, Deputy Director of Health, by email at JChesshe@ci.garland.tx.us or by telephone at 972-205-3534. ►If anyone needs to have a dog pulled from Irving or Garland, Texas, please contact Chris May at cmay@callchrismay.com -- Chris May is a board member of LOVE A DOG RESCUE AND SANCTUARY IN MO, a 501c3 - who has permission from president to pull and have pulled or rescued and have pullers from this Garland shelter. They will NOT pull a dog into boarding, need confirmation of adopter/rescue that the dog is going to. They also need a release form signed as to that Love a Dog Rescue is NOT responsible for that dog, and that ALL fees ARE paid prior to pulling ►Amy Moore lives near Garland and can sometimes get there before they close. If anyone needs help with a dog (is the dog still there, what is he/she like?, maybe pull help, etc.) you may contact Amy at amymoore27@hotmail.com This shelter GASSES before they open so someone needs to be there when the shelter workers get there not after. They only hold animals for 4 days. Dogs will be pulled and gassed without warning. This shelter has extremely bad press. Dead puppies, losing peoples dogs, etc. Rescues have called over and over for a dog and they gas it anyway. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2009 Article on Garland Animal Shelter Illegally Killed Animals:http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont..._.3c603bd.html ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Please contact Luis Martinez at lmartine@ci.garland.tx.us phone 972-205-3571 if you would like to tag one of these animals for rescue. You must have your 501c3 on file and it may be faxed to 972-205-3433 shelter phone number (972) 205-3570. If you are an individual interested in adopting one of these animals you may now pre-pay the adoption fee and that animal will be held for you. To prepay and fill out necessary paperwork you will need to go to the shelter at 600 Tower Street, Garland TX Hours are 10-6 Monday thru Friday 10-2 Saturday They WILL NOT HOLD DOGS. They have said time and time again that it is first come first serve. ANYONE can put a 'prepay adoption hold' on a dog meaning you prepay for the adoption and if the owner doesn't reclaim, then the dog is yours. If they know you are with rescue, they won't let you do the prepay (the rescues don't pay the adoption fee). If you don't have an animal ID, they will act like they don't know what dog you are talking about. Many of the animals are listed on their website with animal ID's. RULES All un-tagged animals will be held 3 days for possible owner pick upAll Tagged animals will be held 6 days for possible owner pick up(not counting holidays or Sundays)All owner surrenders are held 1 day in case they change their mind this is on case by case manager can over-rule due to space constraints etc. If any rescues want them they do not have to wait to be vetted they can have them when their time is up. http://www.facebook.com/l/3c7352R0yT...es/default.htm FYI - NO ONE will pull a dog for you unless you have your 501(c)3 on file and transport ready. There have been many times when pullers have been stuck with dogs that have nowhere to go. Pullers are not rescue organizations. UNDERSTAND that its sometimes impossible to get the people in this shelter on the phone. If you want a dog, YOU MUST GO THERE Per Jt Waldie I have written to the people in charge of animal control: DOats@ci.garland.tx.us, and JChesshe@ci.garland.tx.us These are the people responsible for this shelter. Rick Perry is governor. I suggested last week to go to his face book page and blast him because of this shelter. I did but there is more power in greater numbers. Until people step up and bring an end to this by confronting the people responsible for this, it will not end. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INFO FOR SHELTER: Abe J.
