Talking Breed guess help?

My sister-in-law & brother-in-law are looking at adopting this dog so it is in no danger of needing a home. SIL is sending the application in soon. They have been interested in this dog since she was 3 months old and according to the rescue they have been the only people interested in her. Bea is a very, very shy dog who doesn't show well at meet and greets. My SIL is used to some of my shy hounds and has seen how they blossom with TLC so she feels she is ready to take that journey with my help and guidance (I specialize in shy hounds and spooks).

When she was 3 months old they had her labeled as a Plott Hound mix and she looked very houndish. They now have her labeled as a boxer mix which I just don't see personally. Perhaps I have my skinny dog goggles on since I'm not awesome at identifying non-sighthound characteristics in mixes.

If it helps the most common dogs in my area are Pit Bulls and bully breeds often labeled as Pit Bulls, Cane Corsos (we have a big time BYB here...churns out 1-5 litters every few months with the occasional Boerboel litter thrown in, no joke...they have 5 litters just for July!) GSDs, Great Danes, Labs, Boxers, and toy breeds.

She was between Whippet and small female Greyhound height and was about 35lbs a few weeks ago. Her foster mom said that she is extremely laid back and has been since she was 3 months old.

Here is Bea. I know they're not the best pix for identifying breed (ie no side shots) but this is what I have.

Any guesses? Yes, I know they are just guesses...but SIL asked my opinion and I told her I wasn't sure but i would ask people who might know better than me.

She is very pretty! How old is she now? That first picture shows me some Pit in the face, possibly, but she looks a little more gangly to me. Could just be the angle, but pits are usually more solid looking with a sturdy chest. She looks like she COULD have more of a boxer type body.

From these pictures, I would say boxer/pit mix is a good guess.

She is 6 months old now and still growing into her body.

I had thought she had some Pit in her because of her face but I'm not that good at all the differences in the various bully breed faces.

She is 6 months old. I thought I had said that in the OP but I forgot.

At 6 mnths she still has growing and filling out to do, so she could get more of a pit body. She is still just beautiful!

She's sweet too. She's scared of almost everyone but she will climb into my SIL's lap. They go see her at every M&G. The only holdup they have had is that they have been in the process of moving. Since nobody else is interested in her I think that she is meant to be with SIL and BIL.

I think she is absolutely beautiful. I am sure she is just going to BLOOM when she comes home to your sister's family. I'm extremely partial to the pit bull as a breed, so I am THRILLED to see another one go to a good home

They are very excited. SIL e-mailed me for a dog supplies list yesterday. SIL fell in love with a brindle Greyhound foster I had forever ago but BIL wants a "real dog" and Greys just aren't "real" enough for him. When she laid eyes on baby Bea and showed BIL he fell for her too. I'm very happy that they have chosen to bring a shy, harder-to-place rescue dog home. When I first mentioned that she had a pittie-type face I was a bit worried about their reaction but they are 100% fine with it. They're moving into a home they own so no worries about renting.

She def has pit in her. But there is something else and I cant put my finger on it. Her markings are beautiful. She has an incredibly soft hopeful look to her.

Oh I think I got it! I wonder if she is Pit and Carolina dog mixed! I see the almond shaped eyes and the lighter color around her muzzle and such. I thought Carolina dog and then I scrolled up to your location and you are in the SE. So it very well could be. Carolina dogs are known to be on the shy side and a bit aloof with strangers. But once they latch on to you that is it, they are your dog for life. Carolina dogs normally have stand up ears, but with pits having floppy ears that would explain it.

That's a Pit mixed with a Fiest and maybe Cur! Common mix in the South for 'Hog dogs' and similar uses.

She looks a little bit like my friend Sherrie's dog which is a boxer/pit mix. She's a fanastic dog, a bit on the shy side at first but once she gets to know you she's just a total sweetheart. I'm sure this little girl will end up being a fantastic member of her new family.
