Hey guys, thought I'd take a shot at posting this here. I only have 2 weeks off between my summer and fall classes with my break starting this Thursday and somehow I'm already involved with helping rescue/foster a couple Bassets during that time.

So here's the deal. Rescue is asking if I can pull these puppies from my home town's shelter, get them vetted, and hold them a couple weeks, but we need to find a more "permanent" foster for them because I go back to school on the 20th. I use the word "permanent" loosely because they are young pups and we know how fast puppies usually get adopted. These guys are really really cute too, so I think they'll go fast. But rescue isn't ready to pull them yet until we know we have somewhere for them to go after me.

Any takers in this area? Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma? Transport can be arranged.

The pups are both males, probably between 8-10 weeks old. Super duper cute. They are Basset Hound mixed with something, maybe heeler or Blue tick coonhound. The mom is purebred Basset and we already have a foster for her, I'm picking her up on Thursday to transport. But need somewhere for 2 small pups to go.

It's no place for pups to be.

aawww! they are absolutely adorable!! I wish we could..but right now my pups need some normal. Hope you find a foster home for them!

Ooohhhhh my gosh they are precious! They have gotta have no probs finding a foster or a good home. They are soooo darling. Wow. Them ears!

OMG!!!!! Those are Bluetick babies... mixed with basset hound.. They are going to be adorable!!!. I wish I could oh how I wish I could. I love blueticks... my fav breed. If I didnt live all the way in SC I would take them both in a sec!!!

Seems like we've found a foster for the pups...but they can't take them til the 17th. Gee, guess that means I have to foster two wittle cute puppies until the 17th. Darn.

Transporting the mom Basset and another female Basset from the same shelter on Saturday...which means I'll have an additional 4 dogs around from Thursday-Saturday while I get them all ready to go.

That's the plan for right now, just waiting on confirmation of when to pull them and also making sure the rescue can pay my vet for flea/tick meds because all the dogs that come from our local shelter are flea ridden.

Here's Momma Basset who, if all goes according to plan, I'll be picking up tomorrow or Friday, not sure yet.

The same family dumped her, her sister Basset Hound, and the 2 pups at the shelter all at once. Lovely, huh?

Well good news and um...I don't know about the other part.

Good news is both pups were adopted today! So they are safe! Kinda sad I won't have them with me but permanent homes are better than I could have asked for.

Not sure what I'm doing with the Basset females now, all dogs that come out of our local shelter are infested with fleas and when I asked if the rescue would reimburse me for flea/tick treatment they said they couldn't. And I can't pay for it out of pocket, and after the flea fiasco with Wyatt and Weston, I can't bring fleas into the house again to give to my own pets and my parents wouldn't be pleased at all then either, soooo not sure what's going to happen. I'm seeing if I can just pick the Bassets up on Saturday and transport them right away then.

Yes definitely. I have dog-safe flea powder that I will be spreading on the rugs they'll sit on.
