I hate people who say they have to get rid of their dog because they are moving to an apartment. Dude - I live in an 1100 sq ft apartment with a MASTIFF and next year will be adding a BERNER.... what's the problem?

SO agree with you there!! The moving thing in genera ticks me off. There are lots of places that accept pets if they really looked.

I hate that too, but my understanding is that there are usually weight restrictions imposed by property managers, assuming they even allow dogs at all...

What I hate, is people getting a puppy, then moving to an apartment! I mean, I know the economy sucks, but really? you didnt know you'd be moving to an apartment shortly?

OK but even on places with weight restrictions - there are just as many other apartments that don't have such restrictions - look a little harder folks.

And you're right... if your financial situation is such that you even THINK you may be downsizing... you prolly shouldn't get a puppy.

Also? Playing devils advocate and supposing that perhaps the husband just lost his high paying job last month... and now they need to downsize - the BREEDER should be contacted to take that dog back.

when we were in the military and renting it took me over 1 yr to find the bigger house we wanted..there wasn't that many places that would allow 5 dogs(at that time LOL), but after lots of hard work and talking we found our house (the one we moved from) and lived there happily with all our dogs

its not that they can't find a place that allows the dog...they don't want to put the time into it

That requires too much effort... much easier to throw puppy up on CL

I agree with you 1000%!! unfortunately this has become such a standard excuse for giving away dogs, its hard to believe anyone who might actually have lost their job unexpectedly for real

People are lazy and don't care enough about animals to give a flying crap. I think I've seen every stupid excuse out there. It's pathetic. Dogs and cats are too "easy" to just throw away, and they all figure it will find a wonderful home eventually. Not giving any thought that there are idiots out there looking for a cheap dog for the wrong reason, or that the pound they take it to could put it to sleep the minute they walk out the door. UGH!!

Well I think she's a cutie! I would never move somewhere I couldn't have my animals personally. I would have no reason to live without them.
