This girl is in the Philly SPCA. She was taken in a raid in May 2009 and has been at the shelter ever since. The "owner's" court case was finally completed (outcome, I don't know) and he signed over the dogs on Tuesday. Today at 3 pm, one of the volunteers who has been working with all 25 since the day they came in, was told that she would be euthanized TONIGHT. She sent out an email, to which I replied. We spoke on the phone. Apparently she spoke to the vet tech this evening who said she would make sure she was too busy to euth her tonight. Tomorrow morning we will know for sure.
She is 4 years old. NO cats, selectively dog reactive but has not aggressively attacked any other dogs. Reportedly LOVES people - just like a pitty should. Her first photo had me in tears. I just keep thinking about Jasmine.
I KNOW this dog is NOT Jasmine. She might not like kids. But if she DOES, and we CAN, I would adopt this dog myself. If not, we adopt her out. But we are simply too overwhelmed with dogs at the moment to physically bring her here. I probably won't have space for at least a month or two. I'm willing to provide all vetting (of course), supplies, and even a small amount of money to anyone who would hold her until then. As of 10 minutes ago, NO ONE has spoken up for her. If she is still there in the morning, I pray there is a reason. Even if it's not me who saves her, I hope someone does. A year in the shelter with no hope of getting out, finally able to be released, and already on the euth list? No...that does not sit well with me.
Crossposting, prayers, and ideas are greatly appreciated. I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks everyone. Now look at sweet Lydia...
