IDR NEEDS your help! ***GRAPHIC links included***

Long story short.... IDR+ (the dobe rescue I volunteer with) just pulled a skeletal Doberman yesterday. He was found as a stray, in an alley by Animal Control.

If IDR+ had not stepped in quickly yesterday morning, this dog would already be gone. He's at the vet getting round-the-clock care, he's fighting for his life - somehow he's got enough spirit left to lift his head and eat canned food from our volunteers' hands.

For those of you that would like to help this little man out (and he'll have a name very soon, we're letting the vet tech who is dedicating her time to his care name him) you may do so online at www.ildoberescue.com and clicking on "Support IDR" or by mailing a check to IDR, PO Box 435, Barrington IL 60011. Just note it's for the emaciated dobe from Gary Indiana.

I've included links to his photos... but PLEASE be careful. He's in the worst shape any of us have ever seen and the photos will upset you. But he's alive, and he's trying SO hard to survive.

His intake photo:

Photos at IDR's vet:

If you can find it in your heart to help us, it'll mean SO much. He's got a long recovery ahead - if he even makes it at all - and we'll need all the help we can get.

OMG. I have seen some of the worst things that people have done to animals, including a 58 lb Mastiff that should have weighed 180 and I thought I could handle those pics... I had to close the first one because I immediately gasped and started crying. I can't look at the rest.

As horrible as pics like these are, they are also in a way amazing. The sheer will to live these dogs have is just awe inspiring.

I am so very very thankful for the people willing to take the hard cases, who dont turn a blind eye to the suffering of others.

Yep, just tell them it's for the emaciated dobe from Gary Indiana - I'm not sure if Paypal has that option or not. Otherwise you could probably send it and then email the rescue directly and say you just sent in a paypal donation and you want it to go to him.

There's a Paypal link under his specific page: http://www.ildoberescue.com/displayDogs.php - he's the first dog listed.

I didn't think it was possible for a dog to be so starved and still live.
Humans can be a horrible breed at times.
God bless all those who are fighting for him right now.

I was a lot less upset than I thought I would be by the pics... although they are mind blowingly awful, the dog is so thin that he looks fake!!!!!!!!!!! How he can be alive IS truly a miracle.

Publicize his story far and wide!!!!!!

Oh Leah, I'm so happy that he is still fighting! And now he has a name. I've thought of him constantly since last night.
