| Feeling helpless... ![]() This is Copper. I stalk Petfinder all the time because I enjoy torturing myself and looking for dogs I cannot have. Copper was one of the first boys I saved in a folder in my favourites called "DOGS I WOULD BRING HOME IN A TENTH OF A SECOND." And he's been there. For a year. As far as I know he's been kept in a private kennel since he was rescued from the shelter and does not currently have a foster home. I'm not in a position to adopt Copper or any of the dogs I have saved. I live with my aunt, who has two dogs of her own, one of them being moderately aggressive towards new dogs. They also tend to turn up their nose at anything remotely 'bully breed'-esque and prefer their doodle poodle mix but that's another matter entirely. So as much as I wanted to I didn't inquire about him. This paragraph is all to say that I don't have any personal dealings with him, just that I've fallen in love with his picture and the videos they've posted. However, I also have the rescue that posts about him every once in a while "liked" on Facebook so that I can see updates about him every once in a while, simultaneously hoping and dreading that I'd see that he'd finally gotten adopted. Instead, the most recent entry about him was titled: COPPER IS NOW SUPER URGENT! I had to ask why his status had changed and received this response: "His rescuer is out of funds and can not pay kennel fees any longer." I guess I'm here for advice, or encouragement, or something. I have no idea if there would be any way I could help, or if simply posting him here - the only place I know of that has knowledgeable dog people - is the best thing I can do. I don't have many friends, even fewer I know would pay any heed to posting about a dog in need, and fewer still that I would actually trust with any breed of dog, much less a staffy. I've been debating whether or not to contact the person in charge of him just to ask if there's anything I can do from where I am, but I think I already know the answer to that. And so I post here, just to share him, for a lack of knowing what else to do.

Sarah Steele, an obedience and draft judge in NJ, raises and shows Am Staffs (as well as Bernese). I don't really know her, just of her, but maybe she would have some ideas? Her contact info is here, on the Info Dog Show Site, under judges: http://www.infodog.com/judges/22520/juddat.htm |

Thank you both for your replies. Maybe I can do something for him after all even if it's just getting his name out there. Janice, all the information I have: His Petfinder pages: 1, 2, 3, and 4. All of them say he is a courtesy posting but I'm having trouble finding which rescue it was exactly (It MAY be the first one). Originally I found him through a rescue on Facebook called "Rescue Ridge" and the page changed somewhere along the line, this is the Facebook page I have "liked," and get updates from. Pick Your Paw Animal Network. Everything else says to contact Tammy at mattnbubba@yahoo.com or 908-433-1796.

Aw, Nicki, thank you so much. That would have been super fun! Silly Apollo, boy dogs can be fun too. I'm moving south this summer though - to Missouri! - so it may actually be a possibility that I can finally get a dog then... Just probably not in time to do much for poor Copper.Thank you to anyone who's shared him or done anything on his behalf.
