Vermont dog needs help!!

A friend of mine desperately needs to find a home for her dog before her husband shoots him (not kidding, unfortunately )

He is a VERY sweet, friendly big dog. I'm not sure of his breed, he is a big bulldog-type dog. He looks to me like a mastiff X rhodesian ridgeback cross, but I could be totally wrong. I forgot to ask her what his breed was, he may be a purebred.

He is beautiful and healthy (could stand to lose a few pounds IMO). He is 3 years old and neutered. He gets along great with other animals, and is generally submissive toward other dogs. He is SUPER friendly and loving, would make someone a GREAT dog.

The problem is he is big and strong, and keeps knocking her over her small kids. The kids are now afraid of him, and dad wants him gone ASAP (has threatened to shoot him if he isn't gone soon).

He needs a home with no small kids, and someone who is willing to work on basic obedience, but he doesn't have any major behavioral problems.

He will make someone a wonderful dog. She is not asking for any money, just wants to find him a good home and really doesn't want to have to take him to a shelter!

Anyone have ideas???

I can ask a friend. They currently have a Bulldog and have been somewhat looking for a buddy for him but not really actively unless something comes along.

Do you have any pictures of him that I could show them?

They are also located in PA, would there be a chance we could work out a transport if they are seriously interested? Are they asking any sort of rehoming fee?

No rehoming fee. They may be willing to work out transport if your friends were willing to pay for some of the gas $, I'm not sure. I don't have any pictures of him but if they are interested I'm sure I can get some from my friend.

A complete ballpark guess would be about 25 inches, but I don't know for sure. He's bigger than a big pit bull, but smaller than a mastiff.

EDIT: she is going to email me pictures later tonight. I will post them in this thread.

The pictures don't seem to be working.

Hmm, I can't edit the earlier post, but let me know if the photos work now:

Not the best pictures, but that is what she sent me.

Just talked to his owner. He is a purebred black mouth cur, 2.5 years old. He was bred in Alabama, they have had him since he was 8 weeks old.

Edit: I haven't heard anything back from my friend yet. Do you mind if I cross post this on another forum also?

Yes, please cross-post! He really needs a home ASAP! I would be willing to help transport in my car if the adopter was willing to pay some gas $ (there is no rehoming/adoption fee for him)
