She looks way small to be either to me. Maybe she's bigger than she looks?

If it had to be either one, I would say swissy mix. But I'm terrible at these things.

It always makes me wonder.... how could a swissy have a litter of mixes? Seems like such an uncommon breed to be whelping puppies willy-nilly.

I'd definitely say more swissy than berner.

Leah, that's what I was thinking, too. Surprisingly enough around here, we get some really random ones that make you go

I wonder if its an Entlebucher? Entlebucher Mountain Dog - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We have a breeder in southern Alberta, and, well, lots of people here have more money then sense.

Would make sense if he's too small for swissy or berner because I think they're smaller than those two.

I thought of them, they just seemed really rare to end up in rescue but if there's a breeder in the area that makes it more likely

I thought Entlebucher too, but didn't even mention it since they're so uncommon.

The Appenzeller is also similar than the Swissy but smaller.

Appenzellers are even MORE rare in the US and Canada. To be honest, I know of a group in Canada that crosses Berners with Labs for service dogs... and every single one of those is black/white - I've yet to see a tricolored dog pop out of that. AND every one of them has had medium-long hair. That's not to say that their couldn't be a short hair... but...

The dog depicted most closely resembles a poorly bred Swissy bitch to me. She's too tall and the head/tail isn't right for Entlebucher. She *could* be a freaked out Appenzeller - maybe - but the tail is all wrong unless she's got it tucked between her legs.

My best guess is poorly bred Swissy.

I have seen Rottie x APBT mixes that look very very similar to that dog.
