Evan decided he wasn't getting enough attention

He shrieked while playing with the office door, so I figured he squished a toe. I checked him over for swelling, found nothing, gave him an aspirin then put him in his crate to nap.

Took him out of his crate, and he yelped getting up and was three legged lame. A few minutes later, he was walking with a noticeable limp and favoring his right front leg. Classic signs of a shoulder injury.

Off to vet.

Evander you tool....

Oh dear I hope it's nothing too serious. Please let us know what the vet has to say.

Bicep strain, most likely from running around the yard like a hooligan and wiping out. Crate rest, painkillers and re-evaluate in a few days. Xray if it worsens or doesnt improve in a week.

He is hamming it up... Dangling his paw into everybody's lap with ears back and sad eyes. As soon as he realized he was getting a vet exam with blood draw, he yanked his paw back and practically scowled.

I love this boy.

Glad to see they think it's a strain. I had to chuckle at the little ham. Hope he heals quickly.

Me too. 65 lbs of bored puppy on crate rest is HORRIFYING. I will put him downstairs by the cinputer desk on the big sheepskin bed, and tie him to the desk so he can play with his toys, cant wander off but is still close and doesnt get upset at being abandoned. The vet offered sedatives if he doesnt cope well.

Glad it's just a strain, but oh my keeping him on restricted activity will be a challenge.

So the moral of this story, is don't believe what a big red Doberboy has to say. Dana warned me he might be hamming it up to get me fussing over him. So I punted him outside to check his gait after all night and day resting.

Result..
He DOES have a sprained shoulder. Very minor. If he turns hard, he limps a few steps then it evens out. So I'll still put him on restricted activity.

However it's NOTHING like what he told the vet it was. In fact.. I have photographic proof.
