cushings disease

Has anyone had success in treating a dog for cushings? My vet has not been helpful in making suggestions for diet or treatment options. Anything you have seen would be a help. Thanks....this my first time posting, tell me if I made any mistakes.

I've worked with a number of Cushings dogs - however while diet may improve your dog's quality of life, there is no known dietary cure.

Although I have no experience with Cushing, I though this sites might help you understand and possibly answer some questions you may have.

Truman has the opposite of cushings (addison's) and I found a great group on yahoo for information and support. The group is full of owners that have been through it all and share their knowledge. They helped me get Truman's meds under control and answered the many questions I had.

Here is one you might start with http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/C...utoimmuneCare/

Hi Sharon. I hope that you are able to find some answers to Casey's issues. Sharon has a sweet little springer spaniel named Casey that I fostered almost 2 years ago. Casey was a little almost 9 year old springer then that was pretty much tossed away by the only owners she ever had because the "didn't have time for her", but really, they didn't want to spend the time and money getting her proper care I think. Sharon has gone to many vets, and tried the holistic approach with Casey which has been some help, but she still struggles with many issues. I told Sharon about the BDP in hopes that she could stick around here and maybe find some information to help Casey, although I don't really know that we've had any dogs here with Cushings.

Just wante to tell you a little about Sharon, she is a WONDERFUL dog mom...and grandma! She is the best! I'm so glad I met her. I took in a Casey as a foster just 5 days after losing Buddy, my 13 year old springer, with ESRA, the same group that Kim (ALDOGMOM) volunteers through, and I found Sharon, who had recently lost her beloved springer Caroline and it only took Sharon 1 minute of being around Casey to know that she wanted her. It took almost a month before ESRA approved her, because it is harder to adopt a child than to adopt a dog through ESRA....but they are good at screening to make sure they are going to their forever home. Which is what Sharon told me when I tearfully turned Case over to her that no matter what, she was forever home, no matter what they had to deal with. Luckily, she only lives 20 minutes from me and we have become friends and I love her like another mommy. She is just wonderful, so I just thought I'd let it be known, a little about this wonderful person so that she would be welcome here on the BDP. She knows how much I love it here and talk about it all the time.
