new neo puppy playing

my 4month old neo puppy is a crazy boy. he LOVES to play and romp endlessly. he has plenty of housemates to harrass and chase.........now to the question part.

every website states that giant breed puppies should not be allowed to play rough, play for an extended amount of time, jump off couches, beds outta cars and shouldn.t even go up and down stairs.......is this possible? realistic? do i just need to be more vigilant? keep him leashed 24/7? cut him some slack?

this little neo puppy lives to play.......requires very little sleep, is insane and sometimes runs insanity laps around the couches. seems like the slowest he moves is when we are perusing the pet stores or checking out the dog park.. i just need some kinda reassurance. bad or good. this is my first neo. i also have a dogue but he was a more mellow childdog. i have no problem with my neo wanting to play, i just worry about any possible problems due to his so far exciting and adventurous puppyhood....
